Albumin und Proteine
Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA), Human Serum Albumin (HSA) and recombinant HSA in multiple grades — for serum-free cell culture, DMPK assay buffer preparation, IVD calibrator stabilisation, cryoprotection and pharmaceutical formulation. Full documentation per lot.
Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA)
BSA is the most widely used protein supplement in cell culture and biochemical research. SeamlessBio supplies 4 BSA grades matched to specific application requirements.
BSA Standardqualität
General cell culture, ELISA blocking, assay buffer protein supplement. Cost-effective baseline albumin.
BSA, endotoxinarme
≤1 EU/mg endotoxin. For endotoxin-sensitive cell culture, immunoassay development and cytokine release assays.
BSA Fettsäurefrei
Endogenous fatty acids removed. Essential for DMPK protein binding assays and lipid binding research.
BSA pH 5,2
Specific pH formulation for buffer systems requiring acidic albumin. For specialist formulation applications.
Humanes Serumalbumin (HSA)
Plasma-derived HSA in 4 grades — from pharmacopoeial excipient grade through to research use. US-origin. Full documentation per lot including TSE/BSE statement.
HSA in Arzneimittelqualität
Pharmacopoeial, for pharmaceutical formulations. EP/USP compliant. Full pharma documentation package.
HSA, diagnostische Qualität
For IVD calibrator and control manufacturing. Lot-specific quantitative testing. IVDR documentation on request.
HSA, für Zellkulturen geeignet
Xeno-free, ISO 13485-aligned. For ATMP and cell therapy formulations, cryoprotection and defined serum-free media.
HSA Forschungsqualität
Cost-effective HSA for research applications. Full CoA, CoO, TSE/BSE statement per lot.
Available as 5%, 20% and 25% solutions in PET/PETG vials and single-use bags (250 mL – 5 L). All on request.
Recombinant HSA (rHSA)
Produced in yeast or CHO expression systems — human-sequence identical, fully xeno-free, without plasma donor variability or viral safety concerns. The preferred albumin for GMP cell therapy and advanced manufacturing.
rHSA Economy
Yeast-expressed recombinant HSA. Cost-effective xeno-free albumin for research and process development applications.
rHSA Premium
High purity yeast-expressed rHSA for xeno-free defined cell culture, MSC expansion media and cell therapy formulation.
rHSA CHO-exprimiert
Human CHO cell-line expressed rHSA. Highest purity for clinical-stage manufacturing. ISO 13485 documentation available.
HSA vs. rHSA — Which to Choose?
| Parameter | HSA (Plasma-Derived) | rHSA (Recombinant) |
|---|---|---|
| Source | Human plasma (US donors) | Yeast or CHO expression system |
| Xeno-free | Human-derived — xeno-free | Fully xeno-free, no animal components |
| Lot variability | Some donor-to-donor variation | Highly consistent — defined expression system |
| Viral safety | Viral inactivation step required | No viral safety concerns |
| Best for | IVD calibrators, pharma formulation, cell culture | GMP cell therapy, ATMP, defined media |
| Cost | Lower | Higher — but preferred for GMP |
Frequently Asked Questions
Which BSA grade for DMPK assays?
BSA Fatty Acid-Free only — standard BSA contains endogenous fatty acids that occupy the fatty acid binding sites, displacing drug molecules and artificially elevating free fraction measurements. Always use fatty acid-free BSA for DMPK protein binding assays.
What HSA concentration is isotonic?
HSA 5% (50 g/L) is isotonic — equivalent to physiological plasma albumin concentration. Standard for cell washing, separation buffers and isotonic infusion formulations. HSA 20% and 25% are concentrated and diluted to working concentration at point of use.
Is rHSA truly xeno-free?
Yes — rHSA expressed in yeast (Pichia pastoris) contains no animal-derived components in the final product. CHO-expressed rHSA uses an animal cell line but the product itself is recombinant human albumin with no animal-derived contaminants in the final purified material. Full xeno-free documentation available.
