A standard blocking reagent for immunohistochemistry

Goat serum is one of the most widely used blocking reagents in immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence protocols, where it reduces non-specific antibody binding — particularly when the primary or secondary antibody used in the assay was itself raised in goats.

Beyond blocking applications, goat serum is also used to supplement cell culture media and as a matrix for goat-specific serology and diagnostic assay development.
