What is apheresis plasma?
Plasma collected by plasmapheresis: blood is drawn, the plasma separated and the cellular components returned to the donor. This gives higher plasma volumes per donor than whole-blood donation.
Why use plasma instead of serum?
Plasma keeps fibrinogen and the coagulation factors. It is required wherever these analytes are measured or where the assay matrix must match patient plasma.
